The Alabama Community College Leadership Academy

General Information

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for the Academy is $2,800 per person. This fee covers the cost of the sessions, program materials, and a CEU Certificate. This fee also covers refreshment breaks and luncheons, including a kick-off luncheon, graduation luncheon and ceremonies. 

Participants who register fewer than five working days before the program should do so by phone to ensure confirmation of their registration. Further, the Department of Treasury regulations may permit an income tax deduction for educational expenses (registration fees, travel, and meals) undertaken to maintain or improve professional skills.

Also included is the valuable participant textbook “The American Community College”, by Arthur M. Cohen and Florence B. Brower (2008).  This text will serve as a reference for the program.


Directions/Parking

From I-20/59, take the McFarland Boulevard/US 82 exit and proceed north to the University Boulevard interchange. Exit and turn right. Stay on University Boulevard down the hill and turn left on Second Avenue. Open parking will be on your left, the Bryant Conference Center complex on your right. In addition to the parking lot on Second Avenue, you may also park in the Coleman Coliseum Parking Lot, the Bryant Drive Parking Lot, and the new Soccer Field Parking Lot adjacent to University Boulevard. You will be able to ride a Green Route bus from either of these lots to Second Avenue at the Bryant Conference Center.

Registered participants will receive a parking permit upon registration confirmation. The permit should be displayed inside the participant’s vehicle windshield. If the parking permit is not received before the first day of the Academy, one will be provided at check-in with registration services


CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

In the event of a cancellation after registration fees have been submitted, a full refund may be granted up to 10 working days before the July session (refer to schedule). Thereafter, an administrative fee equal to 25 percent of the registration fee will be charged against your refund.  No refunds will be issued after the July session. 

The University of Alabama reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine class sections; to limit registration; or to change instructors. Any money-back guarantee offered on specific programs does not necessarily apply to other programs of The University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies.


SCHEDULE

The Academy consists of five sessions, beginning with a 4-day session, at The University of Alabama, Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa. In addition, four two-day sessions (Thursdays and Fridays) will be held throughout the year on the following tentative dates:

  • July 27-30, 2015 (Tuscaloosa)
  • September 100-11, 2015  (Montgomery)
  • November 12-13, 2015  (Gadsden)
  • February 11-12, 2016  (Fairhope)
  • April 21-22, 2016  (Tuscaloosa)

 

Registration check-in will be held from 8:00-8:30 a.m., July 27, 2015, at the Bryant Conference Center. The April session and graduation (with practice session planned for April 20) will also be held at The University of Alabama’s Bryant Conference Center. Locations for the other two-day sessions will be announced throughout the year.

Participants interested in the credit option will register on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the Bryant Conference Center.
