Dear Fellow Tax Professionals:
The Alabama Federal Tax Clinic, Inc., the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accounts, the Alabama State Bar and the University of Alabama invite you to attend the 68th Annual Federal Tax Clinic. The University of Alabama will host this year's Clinic at the Bryant Conference Center on November 20-21, 2014. We invite you to take this opportunity to join us for what will surely be an informative and timely presentation.
Our Tax Clinic is one of the nation's oldest tax conferences. In designing each year's program, the Clinic's Board of Directors strives to meet participants' expectations by providing consistency and variety in subject matter. This year's program follows this tradition and will feature familiar topics such as: federal and state tax law updates, year-end tax planning, estate planning, partnerships and S-corporations, retirement plans for small businesses – in addition to new presentations on Employee Stock Ownership Plans and international tax reporting, all presented by nationally and regionally recognized speakers and experts. We are proud to make such an outstanding program available to you at a competitive price in the comfortable environment of the University of Alabama.
The Tax Clinic's mission is to raise funds for scholarships awarded to deserving students in the College of Commerce and Business Administration's Culverhouse School of Accountancy, Master of Tax Accountancy program and the University of Alabama School of Law. This year we expect to award $50,000 in such scholarships, a $10,000 increase over recent years. Your support is integral to the Tax Clinic's fulfillment of its educational assistance mission. No less appreciated is the support of our sponsors and exhibitors – some of whom have been associated with the Tax Clinic for many years. During this year's Clinic, please express your appreciation to our sponsors and visit with our exhibitors and learn about their goods and services.
To our returning participants, we thank you for your loyalty. To first-time attendees, we hope your experience at this year's Clinic is productive and enjoyable and that you will return in future years making the Clinic a part of your professional education routine. Finally, we must thank all who make this Clinic possible, year after year – the staff of the University of Alabama's College of Continuing Studies. The College's efforts result in a truly effective and professionally-run experience.
We hope you enjoy this year's Tax Clinic and we encourage you to fill out the evaluation materials online or otherwise let us know your comments, suggestions for improvement and recommendations for future Clinic curriculum.
Very truly yours,
Todd L. Denison
