Health & Child Welfare Summit

Course Description 

The University Of Alabama School Of Social Work, through the support of Title IV-E and The Caring Foundation of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, will host the Health and Child Welfare Summit. This event aims to take a look at the impact of child abuse and neglect on four areas of health: physical, emotional, mental, and nutritional.

  • The impact of childhood trauma on the physical development of children
  • The correlation between childhood obesity and adverse childhood experiences 
  • The use of psychotropic medications and children in the child welfare system
  • The impact of child abuse and neglect on the emotional development of children
