Alicia Browne is the Director of Information Management and External Affairs for the Division of Student Affairs.  She has been at The University of Alabama since September 2005, when she joined Housing and Residential Communities as the Assistant Director for Information and Communication. She left HRC in May 2014 as the Director of Housing Administration.  Alicia earned a BA from Bowling Green State University and master’s degrees from BGSU and George Washington University.

Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Program Professor

Dr. Melondie Carter is assistant dean for undergraduate programs in the Capstone College of Nursing and the former assistant director of the Office of Health Promotion and Wellness.  She holds the rank of professor and has served on numerous committees including the Faculty Senate during her 21 years of service at The University of Alabama.

Staff Architect

Garrett Goodman serves the University of Alabama as Staff Architect. He leads in administering the design of internal and external projects throughout the campus, under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Construction Administration. He ensures that both internal and external projects are designed to meet the University’s standards for design quality and technical proficiency.Mr. Goodman is a LEED Accredited Professional and Member of the American Institute of Architects.  He lives in Birmingham and is married to the former Joanna Barnett of Tuscaloosa.  He and Joanna are the proud parents of two sons, Benjamin and Charles.

Senior Associate University Registrar

Mary Ellen Hanna has worked in the Office of the University Registrar since 2003. She currently serves as the Senior Associate University Registrar for Academic Services with responsibility for transfer credit evaluation and processing, the DegreeWorks degree audit program, commencement planning, and degree awarding. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Mary Ellen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from UA.

Professor and Head

Dr. Holt joined the Department of Economics, Finance & Legal Studies in 2010 as the Dwight Harrigan Endowed Faculty Fellow in Natural Resource Economics. He has held prior academic posts at Purdue University, North Carolina State University, The University of Arizona, and University of Wisconsin. His research and teaching interests focus on issues relating to markets for food and natural resource products. In June, 2013 he was named interim and then in August, 2015 permanent Head of his department. He is a Fellow of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association.

Venture Development Associate

Whitney Hough has a Ph.D. in Chemistry (2010) and a MBA in Strategy (2012) from The University of Alabama. She is currently the Venture Development Associate at the Office for Technology at The University of Alabama. She is responsible for managing the Triage and Venture Development interns, student research assistants, initial assessments of intellectual property, and mentoring of UA-based start-ups.

Associate Professor

Dr. Aaron M. Kuntz is Associate Professor in the College of Education where he serves as Program Coordinator for Educational Research. Recently, Dr. Kuntz was announced as the Department Head for Educational
Studies. As an engaged and collaborative scholar, Dr. Kuntz develops inquiry projects in local, national, and international arenas alongside professional colleagues, teachers, and community members. His research
interests include critical qualitative inquiry, academic activism and citizenship, critical geography, and philosophy of education.

Director of Programs

Andre Love serves as the Director of Programs for University Recreation.  His responsibilities include the outdoor recreation, intramural and club sports, and the informal recreation components of University Recreation.  He has been with The University of Alabama since November of 2011.  Andre earned a B.S. in Recreation Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and a M.S. in Physical Education Pedagogy from Eastern Michigan University.   He previously worked at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia.

Tricia McElroy
Associate Dean

Tricia A. McElroy earned her D.Phil. in English from the University of Oxford in 2005. An Associate Professor in the Department of English, she is on the faculty of the Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies. She teaches widely in English Renaissance literature and publishesprincipally on the literature and history of Scotland. Her specific research interests include satire, manuscript culture, and early modern political thought. She is also the Associate Dean for Humanities and Fine Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences. In this role, she represents eight departments, working closely with the chairs and Dean on a variety of College tasks and initiatives.

Senior Information Officer

Ruth Pionke is the senior information officer for the College of Arts and Sciences. In this role, Ruth oversees all technology endeavors in the college and directs the Office of Educational Technology, which is a technology service group for the Arts and Sciences faculty and staff. Ruth has an MBA from the University of Alabama and a Masters degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois. Prior to this position, she worked independently as a marketing and management consultant in her business, Strategic Partners.

Carolina Robinson

Carolina Robinson serves as the Director of Education Abroad within the Capstone International Center. In her role as Director, Carolina overseas study abroad programing including international exchange partnerships, affiliate programs, and she works closely with UA faculty in developing new education abroad opportunities and initiatives. As Director, Carolina provides leadership to the Education Abroad office, supervises budgets for over 50 faculty-led programs, administers scholarships, and is responsible for the marketing of study abroad programs through web and print media. Carolina partners with campus units that support student's studies abroad and is the primary risk manager for UA programs overseas. Carolina is looking forward to increasing study abroad participation at The University of Alabama by diversifying the portfolio of countries where students travel abroad and by making study abroad accessible to all students. Carolina has earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Clemson University and M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Development from the University of Georgia.

Director of Budgets

Adam Tate is the Director of Budgets and his primary responsibilities include budget development, planning, implementation, and oversight of all aspects of the annual budget.  He earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting, his Master’s Degree in Human Environmental Sciences, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama.  He also enjoys serving as an adjunct instructor for the college of HES where he teaches a freshman compass course or a course on using spreadsheets in financial decision making.

Mike Tierney

Michael Tierney is the Director of Telecommunication and User Services. He oversees the IT Service Desk and telecom customer service and engineering. Since joining the University in 2012, Mike has focused on formalizing processes, updating technology, and integrating telecom and the service desk with the OIT department as a whole. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Boston College, and a Master of Science in computer information systems with a concentration in information security from Boston University.

Daniel Waterman is the editor-in-chief at The University of Alabama Press where he oversees an acquisitions department responsible for acquiring 55-60 new scholarly and general-interest books per year. He holds degrees from Yale University (B.A.), Hollins College (M.A.), and The University of Alabama (M.F.A) and previously worked for Rizzoli International Publications and ARTnews magazine in New York.

Javonda D. Williams, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Williams has worked as a foster care social worker, child and family therapist, educator, and researcher. Dr. Williams has extensive clinical experience working with sexually abused children and adolescents. She has expertise in group work and community based interventions. Her areas of scholarship and research include childhood trauma, social work education and forensic interviewing.
