The Society of Civil War Historians is very pleased to announce that, after the cancellation of our 2020 conference, we will be holding our first virtual conference on June 17-18, 2021. The virtual format seemed the most sensible approach in light of the continued uncertainties of the pandemic and will make it easier for us to gather many of the 2020 presenters. We can already announce that the two previously scheduled plenary sessions will be part of our 2021 program: a conversation on “The Civil War in Poetry and History” with former Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey and Professor David Blight and “A Roundtable on Women and Gender in the Civil War Era”.
In addition, a decision was agreed upon by the Advisory Board to hold the next in-person conference in June of 2022. To submit a proposal for the 2022 in-person conference, please see the call for papers at https://sites.psu.edu/scwhistorians/conference/scwh-conference-information/
The conference will be hosted in Event Owl, a virtual event platform that features an organized event agenda, easy access to all of the sessions in one place, virtual exhibitors and sponsors, and the ability to chat with fellow attendees, speakers, and event support staff.
An Event Owl account will be automatically created for each participant following their registration.
A link for logging into that Event Owl account will be sent to each participant during the week of the conference.
