2024 Advanced Placement® Summer Institute


The University of Alabama is pleased to partner with the College Board® to offer the Advanced Placement (AP) Institute for current AP teachers who are looking to strengthen their program or teachers who are new to the AP program seeking guidance on curriculum and teaching methods. The topics included in these workshops are subject matter content, test construction, pupil and teacher selection, College Board policies and procedures, and preparation and grading of AP tests.

The 2024 University of Alabama AP Summer Institute will offer new AP workshops for teachers with no or minimal training in AP and Experienced teacher workshops for teachers who have previously attended a workshop or training session or who have taught an AP course for at least two years.

Monday, July 8- Thursday, July 11

Monday, July 15 – Thursday, July 18

APSI Scholarships Offered by the College Board!   The deadline for scholarship application is February 12, 2024.

1. AP Fellows: For teachers at schools with a majority underrepresented minority and/or low-income student population
  • Scholarship amount: $1,000 maximum
  • Eligible AP subjects: All AP subjects except AP Capstone™ (Seminar and Research)
2. AP Rural Fellows: For teachers at rural schools
  • Scholarship amount: $1,500 maximum
  • Eligible AP subjects: All AP subjects except AP Capstone (Seminar and Research)
3. AP Capstone: For teachers planning to attend the AP Capstone summer professional development event
  • Scholarship amount: Cost of tuition only
  • Eligible AP subjects: Only AP Capstone (Seminar and Research)
