DNP Intensive Conference Call for Abstracts
The following is an example of the abstract call and collection process used for the 2020 conference.
The 2020 DNP Intensive for The University of Alabama (UA) students will be held March 30-31, 2020 at the Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama’s campus in Tuscaloosa.
Current students and recent alumni in the Joint DNP program are invited to submit abstracts of their scholarly projects to be considered for an oral or poster presentation on March 30 and 31st. Oral presentations are limited to 20 minutes, with 10 minutes allowed for questions. Poster presenters must be present to discuss content and findings at their respective posters during the designated review sessions. Presenters will be able to list these presentations on their resumes and/or portfolios as peer reviewed. This is an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and gain valuable experience in presenting scholarly work.
Travel Grants Available!
- If your abstract is accepted for a presentation, the UA CCN will provide up to a $500.00 travel grant.*
- The top three scoring abstracts will be given the option of podium or poster presentations.
*The travel grant will be a reimbursement of eligible expenses (i.e., travel costs, hotel, & meals). The cost must be incurred and receipts submitted in order to be reimbursed.
Abstract Guidelines for Oral or Poster Presentations
Use the following format for the abstract for oral and poster presentations.
a. Introduction – Statement of the Problem, Objectives of Scholarly Project, Background (Planning), and PICOT Questions
b. Review of Evidence – Literature Synthesis and Conceptual Framework
c. Implementation Plan – Methods (as applicable)
d. Evaluation Plan or Results (as appropriate)
e. Conclusion/Discussion
f. References – (APA; within the last six years)
Submission of the Abstract
- Abstracts must be approved by your faculty advisor prior to submission. A letter of permission from your faculty advisor/mentor is required for submission.
- For each presentation, submit the abstract, primary presenter’s resume or curriculum vita, letter of permission from faculty advisor, and demographic form into Qualtrics, LINK HERE, by Friday, January 17, 2020, no later than 11:59 pm central time.
- The abstract should not exceed the character limit (2000 with spaces, approximately 350 words). Abstracts greater than the character limit will not be reviewed.
- After the abstract deadline, UA will review all completed submissions and notify submitting authors no later than February 5, 2020.
