Alabama Mineral Institute Program Information

Anyone interested in mining, geology, water policy, mine construction and regulation, health and environmental issues, coal bed methane and related subjects should participate.

While the agenda is still being finalized, the Alabama Mineral Institute focuses on these following areas:

Industrial Minerals:

  • Environmental, Legislative and Regulatory Issues

Water Resources:

  • Tri-state water wars
  • Interbasin Transfers of Water
  • Instream Flow Policy


Professional Development Hours

Professional engineers and geologists will be able to use the Institute for their Professional Development Hours (PDH) requirement. Full participation in the 2-day meeting will constitute 15 PDH credits.

Registration Fees and Deadlines

Early Bird Rates (Until August 21) - SME Member: $185; Non-Member: $210

Standard Rates (After August 21) - SME Member: $205; Non-Member: $230

Student Rate: $150
