Understanding Implicit Bias and the Ethical Implications for Social Workers
1:00 – 4:00 pm | 3.0 contact hours of ethical content
Everyone, regardless of race, can have unconscious racial bias. When social workers and allied professionals allow unconscious racial biases, these become reality and impact our ability to make a difference and limit what we believe people are capable of. This session gives participants the necessary tools to increase self-awareness, avoid personal biases, and understand the ethical implications of implicit biases when working with a diverse clientele.
Learning Objectives:
- Deepen your understanding of conscious and unconscious bias.
- Develop tools to identify how bias may be impacting your social work practice.
- Learn when to think more critically, consciously, and ethically when making decisions.
