Overview

The Social Work Examination Services (SWES) Social Work License Exam Prep course offers intensive coursework designed for recent MSW graduates and experienced practitioners preparing for the ASWB Social Work Licensing Examinations.

The information-packed sessions in the SWES Exam Prep course focus on reviewing major social work content and preparing for the test.  The course schedule includes sessions on the following:

Clinical practice with individuals and groups – including ethics and laws affecting social workers

  • Test-taking skills
  • A review of human behavior and psychopathology
  • Work with special populations
  • The elderly, children, and families, and addictions
  • DSM5

Included with RegistrationEach registrant will receive the three-volume SWES Comprehensive Study Guide. The guide includes a comprehensive content review and over 1,600 sample multiple-choice questions, featuring five 170-question practice exams and a bibliography.

Who Should Attend

The Social Work Examination Services’ Licensure Examination Preparation Course is designed for recent master’s graduates of social work and experienced practitioners preparing for the clinical exam.

Learner Objectives

Students will:

  • Be introduced to study strategies
  • Gain an understanding of the content of the national licensing exam
  • Learn how to “decode” multiple-choice questions of the type that appear on the licensing exam
  • Undergo a review of the major direct service issues that represent the majority of questions on the examination

Keynote Speaker

Deborah Cantor, Ph.D., LICSW

Experienced clinician and educator, Deborah Cantor, Ph.D., LICSW will lead the SWES training at The University of Alabama.

Since 1984, Social Work Examination Services (SWES) has helped social workers prepare for social work licensure exams. Thousands of license candidates have used SWES methods and materials to successfully pass the national license exam developed by the ASWB. As the trusted partner in university settings across the country, SWES materials have been incorporated into social work school curriculums, and into continuing education programs as the cornerstone material to help prepare social workers for the ASWB licensure exam. SWES materials are widely used throughout the United States, and their comprehensive study guides contain more than 1,600 sample multiple-choice questions at the MSW level and provide uniquely include explanations for each question.

A cancellation charge of 100% of the registration fee will be assessed on cancellations occurring within seven (7) days of the start of this session. Refunds will not be granted after the program has begun. The University of Alabama reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine class sections, to limit registration, or to change instructors.
